We were thrilled to welcome Grandma PJ all the way from St Louis. She came for a visit between Arden and Gilly’s birthdays this week. Grandma helped organize and decorate Arden’s room and brought a beautiful, hand-knitted sweater along with some other birthday surprises. We all enjoyed swimming in the pool, visiting Darcy and Carissa in Walnut Creek, and lots of shopping during the year’s first heat wave.

Arden celebrated her first birthday in the park with friends and family last weekend. The park by our house was relatively empty, so we had it all to ourselves and the weather could not have been better. She spent the afternoon enjoying her first taste of carrot cake, hanging out on the lawn with her BFF Darcy, spending time with relatives, and chowing down on some excellent Mexican food, courtesy of Anita’s Taqueria (which is conveniently owned by our good friends, the Garcias). Damond, another family friend, played paparazzo and took some great photos of the event.

Arden took some studio portraits to celebrate her upcoming birthday this month. We took advantage of a free portrait session in San Francisco that Microsoft was offering to promote Windows Live. The photos turned out to be pretty darn cute! Check ‘em out:
