Flynn was the hungry caterpillar, Arden was the butterfly it turns into at the end of the book, Gilly was the fruit he eats, and Penn the junk food that gives him a tummy ache. Gilly made the costumes at home again this year and appeared to have hit a home run based on the smiles of recognition and positive feedback we received on Halloween night.

Arden got the hang of trick or treating pretty quickly, but not the idea of waiting to get home to eat the candy. We also attended the Boo at the Zoo event at the Oakland zoo which was a lot of fun for both the kids.
