OK, so the first thing you might be asking yourself is, “Who is Baby Brimberry?” Good question. My wife and I are anxious to find out the answer to that question ourselves. At the moment, Baby Brimberry is the unborn child of Penn Brandson Brimberry (me) and Gillian Rae Brimberry. In early January, when we have our 20-week sonogram, we will find out the baby’s sex. As soon as that happens, we’ll be able to decide on a name and give this blog a proper title.
The next question you’re asking is, “Saga? Jeez, Penn, could you be anymore dramatic?” Well, any of my friends will tell you that yes, in fact, I could. But I’m actually using the word ‘saga’ in this blog in the context of my Icelandic heritage. The sagas of the Icelanders, written in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, chronicled the struggle and conflict that arose within the societies of the second and third generations of Icelandic settlers and usually focused on a specific individual and his/her family. So despite the fact that Gilly and I intend to mitigate any future struggles or conflicts that our child might encounter, we feel that his/her impending great deeds warrant a saga, or at least the modern-day equivalent. So keep an eye on this blog for stories, updates, photos, and movies pertaining to the soon-to-be-officially-named Baby Brimberry.
