We decided to continue our Halloween tradition of having a family costume theme as long as Arden will allow it, so this year we dressed up as the classic children’s book, “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. Flynn was the hungry caterpillar, Arden was the butterfly it turns into at the end of the book, Gilly was the fruit he eats, and Penn the junk food that gives him a tummy ache. Gilly made the costumes at home again this year and appeared to have hit a home run based on the smiles of recognition and positive feedback we received on Halloween night.

Arden got the hang of trick or treating pretty quickly, but not the idea of waiting to get home to eat the candy. We also attended the Boo at the Zoo event at the Oakland zoo which was a lot of fun for both the kids.

Arden enjoyed Christmas this year at Nana Kim’s house. Her favorite gifts included a new Kettler tricycle from Grandma and Grandpa Galant and Elmo underwear from Santa.
In true toddler form, she got the house up at 5:45 am to start all the fun….

There was just no way that Arden’s costume this year could live up to her sushi costume from last year, so instead we went with a family costume this year. In honor of the noble honey bees, many of which are mysteriously dying off, Penn was the beekeeper, Gilly wore a beehive, and Arden was our little bee! 2414
She enjoyed two Halloweens, one in downtown Walnut Creek with friends and another with family at Gilly’s Uncle Tom’s and Aunt Wendy’s annual Halloween Party.
Gilly and Arden’s homemade costumes got lots of attantion while Penn got overheated in his white tyvek suit. He thoroughly enjoyed his pith helmet, however (an amazingly hard to find item!).

Arden took her first plane trip this month! She got to meet the Riggle relatives and enjoy the Texas weather during our 5-day stay on the farm. She was great on the plane and cooperated well by nursing and sleeping at just the right times.
She was the youngest this year, and enjoyed spending time at “the 104″ (a guest house, complete with crib) and exploring the pastures in her Ergo carrier. The Easter Bunny was quite kind and she enjoyed all of the unique Texas fare served up, including pinto beans, ham, mac ‘n cheese, and deep-fried turkey.
